The director of PharCom's European division, Richard Erikson was complicit in the activities at the company's warehouses in Kazakhstan, including the smuggling of Syphon Filter in containers and covering up the development of a missile in a decommissioned Soviet silo. Erikson had the responsibility of holding on to a viral scanner that could identify which boxes contained PharCom's samples. Mara Aramov reported this to Gabe Logan when the two and Lian Xing investigated the area. Erikson was hiding from the confrontation between Rhoemer's and Phagan's men, but Logan discovered him in a second-floor office and forced him to surrender at gunpoint. He disappeared afterward.
Trivia
Erikson's fate is not included to the storyline as it is left to the player on Erikson's fate, whether to kill him or let him live.
In addition, although Logan tells Erikson that he'll return to the office, Erikson is not seen again.
